Core Knowledge K-8 Curriculum

Grace Valley Christian Academy has used the nationally recognized Core Knowledge Sequence as the foundation of its K-8 curriculum since 1998. The Core Knowledge Sequence is a detailed outline of specific content for language arts, history, geography, mathematics, science, music, and art, establishing a solid foundation, progressively adding depth and breadth, and promoting steady academic progress as children build from one year to another.

Within Core Knowledge, teachers use an integrated and progressive system of education from K-8, and GVCA teachers frequently collaborate across grade levels to provide progressive instruction on subjects. This system encourages a variety of instructional methods and material, often created by the teachers themselves. And while Core Knowledge creates a framework and establishes a minimum, our teachers often go into further depth and customize instruction to meet the needs, abilities, and interests of their students.

Core Knowledge gives GVCA plenty of room for complementary subjects, including physical education and Spanish. Our talented faculty also teach a variety of middle school courses including Bible classes, health, choir, watercolor painting, home economics, computer courses, and robotics.

Visit the Core Knowledge Foundation website for a closer look at the curriculum.

In addition to our outstanding curriculum, GVCA fosters collaboration between parents and teachers. This teamwork benefits each student and builds a strong school community.
